family day on a sunday :D

had kfc breakfast with the family, then roti prata alittle later in the afternoon, then mooncake in the evening.

ate so much junk food :/

so saddening that kfc doesnt have rosta chicken wrap anymore. tsk.

hence, decided to try their blueberry pancakes with scrambled eggs and hash brown.

not nice one.
will stick to my waffles with eggs instead.

and in their lunch/dinner menu, no more melts.
even more saddening. haix.

belated birthday outing for dom!
he took half day leave for us :D

gf suggested a visit to the museums coz she has free tickets!
yay! so firstly, we went to the Peranakan Museum!

a pic with the small kid :D

fringe so long. *dislike*

before entering the museum.
there's a cat that only ye remembers. hehe.

i was so excited coz i have never been there!

started off with the Peranakan wedding section.

we were given this colourful piece of paper that we have to find the stamps for and upon completion, we'll be able to get a souvenir! :D

haha, so we were damn motivated to find the stamps!

first stamp spotted!

taking turns to stamp on the colourful paper :D

we get to stop-and-touch certain objects :D

this is so pretty :D

this is one of the things that the bride/bridegroom has to give to each other's family before marriage.
pig trotter!

everything just looked so traditional.

2nd stamp spotted!

something we inferred on our own - they love mirrors.

their wardrobe, cupboard, whatever, also has mirrors!

the biggest full length mirror spotted! *smiles*

3rd stamp spotted!

like a boss!

like a lady boss!

the Peranakan Jewellery.

look! more mirrors!

and this is their wardrobe.
clothes on the upper-tier; shoes on the lower-tier.

seriously, how is that enough!?

this is the wedding couple bed.

why so small!?

more embroidery along the corridor.

as you can see, dom was the most motivated person among us to wanna collect all the stamps to complete the mission so that we can get our souvenirs!

gf and i were busy snapping pics.
so we left our colourful paper with dom to help us complete our mission. lol.

this is the layout during the tea ceremony.

guess what are these.
initially, i seriously thought they were flower vases!

then dom corrected me and said they're actually SPITTOONS!

lol, totally looked like vases to me can!

aww~ melts.
baby-wear :3

walked on further and we spotted this 'entrance'.

it's such a wrong idea to hang the lamp in the middle of the signboard.
blocks off the words! tsk.

this is kind of scary.
why dont they have any face!?

the chosen one. lol.

these also dont have :s

Oil on Canvas Painting.

so pretty!

more embroideries.

lucky we spotted these!
we saw similar pouches earlier on and dom told us it was for the peranakan women to store their pads.
but looook! it's for specs luh! LoL!
bluff us! tsssk! hahaha!

walking in further and we spotted telephones!
the oldest kind!

this is dom's fav.

this is the modern kind.

everything is sewn on stitch by stitch.

dom said this is zara-inspired coz of the prints. lol.

detailed prints.

this is from left, the oldest kind, to far right, the modern kind.

i think this is prettiest of them all :)

Peranakan family who converted to Catholicism.

the door guards.

dom was telling us all about it.
we listened to him so attentively and went 'wow~ so knowledgeable!'

turned out he was reading it off the info mounted on the wall, just that our backs were facing the info, so we did'nt know! chey! hahaha!

ye said this is just like the one they have in the Little Nonya show!

this just looked solemn.

*gasps!*

the walkway towards it, with dom leading the way.

dont dare to take pics in there.
just walked in and see see, then walked out.

over to the Peranakan dining area!

with dom sitting in. lol.

everything is a full set!

another design, full set.

more pots of different sizes for different usages.

and plates too.

this is the Peranakan kitchen.

highest level, looking down at the lobby.
layout is pretty :D

last part of the museum.

more furniture.

so pretty, i wanna try on a full-set too!

drawings on the walls.
so cute!

showcase of their costumes.

another place that we found, with the olden kind of telephone!

dom's fav.

lol, u can see how excited he was upon spotting his fav telephone. lol.

fringe split.
aiks.

they also have this area where you get to stamp your own card and you get to bring it home! a souvenir for yourself!

dom stamped his, but somehow, it got lost when we stepped away for awhile.
perhaps the security guard threw it away. lol.

gf (:

our turn to stamp stamp!

with our art work.
hehe, i'm so into stamping now, i wanna get a full set!

perhaps i should drop by popular or papermarket to take a look! heh.

happiest photo of the day(though eyes abit small .-.)

scarriest photo of the day!
scares me whenever i see it, even though it's me!

collected all the stamps :D

and this is our souvenir. *chey~ moment*

after which, we headed to the Asian Civilisations Museum!

walkable distance, but we have no idea where, so we depended on dom's google map on his S3!

walked into this 'alley' with graffiti on the walls.
wow.

but it was the wrong way. lol.

just kept walking and we just stood opposite while waiting for dom to navigate us. lol.
he looked so lost! haha

feeling so excited coz the experience at Peranakan Museum was quite interesting!

after a long walk, we finally reached!

the first thing we had to do was climb more steps up to the gallery.

oh, and both of them finished their drinks even before we reached the museum, except me.
so ye helped me deposit mine into dom's bag :D

as what others always say - 'the higher your expectations, the more disappointed you get.'

true enough, we were so looking forward to it.
well, at least for me.
but it turned out to be so solemn and serious.
nothing interest us!

i believe we only spend like not even half an hr in there and decided to get out and go to another museum instead the alr.

but since we went there, dont waste uh.
at least take a few pics before leaving.

dom requested for this :o

a random door. lol.

lol, i guess we are just not mature enough to appreciate those monuments there yet. heh.

we were trying to find our way out and we walked into this kids' room, i guess?

more boards for you to stick your head in and take pics.

and more of these interactive stuff for visitors.

gf only has free tickets for the first 2 museums we went to, but the ACM was quite a disappointment to us, so we decided to visit the Philatelic Museum
and yes, we had to walk back to where Peranakan Museum was coz it was near there.
but now that we know the route back, it felt way shorter and faster as compared to when we were making our way towards ACM!

walked past The Arts House.

the red creatures looked so cute :]

soon, we reached the Philatelic Museum.

all about stamps!

Simpsons.

gf and i opened one of the cupboard and we saw the word 'Swarovski' and we started snapping. lol.

some other types of stamps.

postman's bike!

letterboxes!

be a stamp!

there wasnt anybody around to help us snap a pic, so we placed it on top of a 'stamp' and switched on timer mode.

sadly, this is the only pic which is more successful(though dom's face is hidden at the back).
the rest are blurred :/

Room Of Rarities.

postbox.

Postman Dom.

the entrance to the Heritage Room

on the side-wall right before entering the heritage room.

tikam tikam!

spotted : clogs in the olden days.

upon entering the room, dom explored everything. lol.

like a teh-tarik uncle at the coffeeshop! lol.

like a lion-dance-drummer!

spotted : the peranakan traditional costumes!

what are they looking at? :O

one of the more successful and satisfied pic of the day(except of my legs).

walked into another room.

sacks of spices.

Coolie Dom.

outside that very room, more pics to snap.

looking down, the area under renovation.
couldnt access.

fan in the olden days.

spotted : dom's fav telephone.

the books in the past.

mini post-letter-boxes.

more mini post-letter-boxes that looked like ice-creams.

hello gf :)

next, the 'dragon room'.

dom exploring the dragon boat.

all of us, in the dragon boat, but dom, why u close your eyes!?

exploring further.

the dragon stamps.

this coloured glasses!
totally reminded me of those days in primary school!

with the old dragon :D

i like this pic best :D :D

they spent quite awhile brushing the sand off while i went around taking pics.

i decided to join them and this was what we were doing.

after all the walking and visiting, we got tired and hungry.
so we decided to walk to CityHall for dinner.

CityHall has limited restaurants, so we walked to Marina Square for more food choices.

after much discussion, we decided to dine at Dian Xiao Er!

dom and gf kept promoting their duck to me!
like kept telling me how yummy it is and if you havent tried Dian Xiao Er's duck meat, you have never tried duck meat before! lol.

and so, we decided on their set menu for 3 people.

aww~ eating like a family. hehehe.

the duck meat was really nice!
but i still prefer it without skin! hehe!

guess the most disappointing dish of all is the spare ribs.
somehow, the meat is tough and difficult to chew :/

dom treated us!
aww~ thanks dom! :D

after dinner, it's smoke-break and i hurriedly swipe out my polaroid cam for pic taking w dom so we can complete our birthday card for him. hehe.

then walked back to CityLink for desserts!
this time, our turn to treat dom! :D

4 bowls of desserts for 3 people.

now, can you imagine how full i was for the night!? lol.

last pic before going home.

sudden downpour!
heavy rain!

went separate ways to get home after that.

took a train to ClarkQuay coz it was raining heavily and did'nt want to get caught in the rain!

got a couple of pics from ye, but she hasn't posted yet!
oh well, i'll update this post again when she uploads!
